' Laundry Day '
by Thaddeus Hutyra

Wow, what a day was it, Laundry Day
to the tunes of music of all sorts
beamed by earthly and heavenly rays
Angels in the arms
lovers in the arms as well
youth dancing their way
symphonic rays of music
divas with their celestial voices
Overwhelming magics, simply
and especially heavenly rhythms
One could hear a number of Djs
anonymous saxophone players
with Guy Fawkes masks on their faces
opera masterpieces, whatever else

One could see and hear, feel and enjoy
the Marriage of Figaro by Mozart
Don Giovanni, the Magic Flute
works by Rossini, Donizetti and Bellini
by Wagner, Verdi, Strauss and Puccini
the Haunted Manor by Stanisław Moniuszko
King Roger by Karol Szymanowski
dazzling Ubu Rex by Krzysztof Penderecki
famous singers Maria Callas, Enrico Caruso
Montserrat Caballé, Joan Sutherland, Birgit Nilsson
the magnificent Three Tenors
Luciano Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo, and José Carreras
All these the whole day and beyond
till the magic in the moonlight !!

Walking further, just a few hundred yards
what a change, unbelievable
Young people in a sea of crazy movements
their bodies on display, fresh blood bouncing
all a pantomime show to the tunes of techno
trance, harder trance, hard house,
hardstyle, other electronic sorts of music
Tiësto, Ferry Corsten and Armin van Buuren
Technoboy, Headhunterz, the Prophet
Hardwell, hundreds of other DJs
less or more known, all seeming godlike
splashed by man made rays of illumination
All these the whole day and beyond
till the early morning hours !!

What a day was it, Laundry Day
in the splash of symphonic rays
from the very sky and from the Sun
from the Heavens, from Earth even
rays and rays of whatever source
seeming to join all the participants
in most vivacious ways
rays of light indeed, and of love
Youth dancing in pulsating rhythms
jumping on each other, laughing a lot
joy and joy, and joy, a paradise
just forget tomorrow, live for the day !!

Finally, if you wondered long enoungh
throughout the whole event
you saw them all, young and old
dancing as in traditional discotheques
dancing tangoes, polonaises, folk dances
and at the tent on the outskirts
you saw angels themselves
dancing to the tunes of their own music
brought by rays from the very Heavens
Earth and Heavens were united in a joy
at the Laundry Day, never to be forgotten
All these the whole day and beyond
till the magic in the sunshine of the following day !!

Occupy Wall Street, the protest movement
all the other Anonymous and Occupy events
were forgotten at this day, the Laundry Day
Love and dance, dance and love
were the overwhelming issues of the day
"We are the 99%" was not this time
about income inequality and wealth distribution
between the wealthiest 1%
and the rest of the population
It was about the joy of the day, the Laundry Day

Well, dear reader, joy is joy
dance is dance
music is music
but let's not forget
what is happening round the world
all those wars, all those miseries
women and children mistreated
men murdered on a daily basis
the darkest hell happening
in the brightest paradise alike conditions
Dance today but fight tomorrow
don't let one even human being
being mistreated in whatever way
Peace to you, peace to all in need !!
